Neat Laser Eye Surgery

Does laser eye surgery actually work? And what are the drawbacks/side-effects?

I was just wondering whether it actually works, and whether there are any drawbacks, such as over time ur vision still becomes bad

  1. You'll have to search the internet for guides because there is too much to explain here. First the cost is not "£395 per eye", that's only for minor corections, the real price is likely to be around £1500-£2500 per eye! Also there is no guarantee that you won't still need to wear glasses; it sometimes gives people perfect eyesight but the satisfaction ratings quoted by the eye-surgery companies are absolute b*llsh*t and they don't mention the people who suffer from serious eye pain for weeks after surgery either. There is also a risk of your eyesight being damaged by "scratches" (seeing scratches in your field of vision all the time) or suffering from night-blindness. However, if you do your homework (you'll know when you've done all your homework because you'll have found out how to get surgery half-price) and ask all the right questions and make sure you get a fully-experienced surgeon and not some unsupervised trainee, it can be well worth the cost and discomfort of a few days of eye pain to get 20/20 vision. I know the risks but I intend to have laser eye surgery within the next couple of years.
  2. Yes, it can work but normally better on people with low prescriptions as if you have a high prescription you might still have to wear glasses after the surgery. This can mean that your lenses cost less but you still will need glasses. Things can go wrong just like every other type of surgery. Remember though that peoples vision gets worse as we get older so nearly everyone needs glasses at some point in their life.
  3. Yep, Actually laser eye surgery is the recomended for most cases in these times. I'm actually waiting for my programmed session. I have lot of friends that underwent the procedure and all of them can see properly now without glasses. As for side effects, less than 5% of people develop symptoms I have been researching this. Some of this side effects are: Undercorrection or Overcorrection: the surgery didn't properly fix your vision, usually you get to have a second surgery. This side effects feels like when you are using glasses with a grad lower or higher than yours Eye Infection: Even if it is low there's a change to get an infection. Halo Effect: Normally for 2 weeks after you see halos at night, if it extends for more than 2 weeks you need to go to the doctor. Dry Eye. Some people develop a dry eye after surgery, drops are prescribed in these cases.
